How close are you to Hocking hills?

We are in the northern part of Hocking County, which puts us about 20 miles away from the main state parks such as Old Man’s Cave, Ash Cave, and Cedar Falls. Rockbridge Nature Preserve is only about 10 miles away, with Rockstull Nature Preserve and Boch Hollow Nature Preserve located just a few miles away!

What cities are closest to your location?

We are in Sugar Grove, Ohio, which is located between Logan and Lancaster. Logan is in Hocking County, whereas Lancaster is in Fairfield County.

Is there an airport nearby?

We are located about an hour southeast of Columbus, Ohio, which has Rickenbacker and John Glenn airports.

Can we bring pets?

We do not allow pets in the cabins.

Do the cabins have Wi-Fi and phone service?

Some of our larger properties have WiFi, such as the Lincoln, Jackson Log Cabin, Rugby Lodge, Rush Creek Retreat, and Sunrise Retreat. Our smaller cabins do not have Wi-Fi; however, there is WiFi available at the office if needed. Phones are not provided in the cabins, but most cell phone services will work in the area.

How old do you need to be to rent a cabin?

For larger properties (three or more bedrooms), you need to be at least 25 years old. For one- or two-bedroom properties, you need to be at least 21 years old.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

We have a two-night minimum stay requirement, and holidays have a three-night minimum stay requirement.

How many people can your cabins hold?

We have a total of 13 cabins that range in size from 2 to 18 person cabins.

When is check-in and check-out?

The standard check-in time is between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. unless you’ve arranged for another time. If you need to arrive after office hours, we can send you information to go straight to your cabin. Check out is at 11:00 a.m.

How do I make reservations, and when is payment due?

Reservations can be made directly with us online or by calling 888-222-4691. A deposit of $200 is due upon booking, and the remaining balance is due 30 days prior to arrival.

What is your cancellation policy for cabin rentals?

Notice of cancellation must be in writing and received 30 days prior to your check-in date. The $200 security deposit is non-refundable. If notice of cancellation is received less than 30 days after paid in full, the lessee will forfeit all amounts paid prior to cancellation. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to your stay and we rebook the property, amounts paid will remain as a credit for a future stay within one year (minus a $50 processing fee).

Are there any handicap accessible cabins?

The Rush Creek Retreat is the best option for those who are handicapped. The Van Buren 1 and Van Buren 2 have a spiral staircase leading to the bedroom and are not recommended for handicapped guests. There are just a few steps to get into most cabins, so just ask us if you have questions about a particular cabin!

What if we have an emergency?

For a medical emergency, there is a hospital in both Logan and Lancaster, or call 911. The owners’ cell phone numbers are listed in the cabin, so please report any emergency with the cabin that needs to be addressed right away.

Do I need a four-wheel drive vehicle to access your cabins?

During winter months, a four-wheel drive vehicle is required for our four-person cabins (Oak Valley, Morning Glory, Sunset, and Ridgeview). If you have a four-wheel drive, it is recommended to bring that during the winter. You do not need a four-wheel drive during autumn, spring, and summer at any cabin.

Do the cabins have a hot tub?

All cabins have a hot tub, and a few cabins also have an indoor jacuzzi tub (Kennedy, Sunset, and Ridgeview).

What is provided at the cabin?

Towels and linens are included. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, dish detergent, trash bags, and paper towels. You will need to bring your own food, including coffee and condiments. Toilet paper and hand soap are provided, but please bring toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, etc.

Do the cabins have a washer and dryer?

Most cabins have a washer and dryer; however, Van Buren 1, Van Buren 2, PA Barn, and Lincoln cabins do not have a washer and dryer. Please remember to bring detergent and softener.

Is there a grill?

The cabins each have a grill; some are gas, and some are charcoal. If your cabin has a charcoal grill, then you’ll need to provide the charcoal. We provide propane for the gas grills.

What type of fireplace is available at the cabin, and is this the only source of heat?

Most cabins have a wood-burning fireplace! The PA Barn has a wood-burning stove, and the Rush Creek Retreat and Sunrise Retreat have gas fireplaces. Fireplaces are completely optional to use, as all cabins have a furnace.

Is there air conditioning?

All cabins have central air conditioning! There is also air conditioning inside the Chapel and portions of the Barn at Rush Creek. Valley View Hills Winery has air conditioning as well.

Do you provide daily housekeeping?

We give our guests privacy and do not stop by the cabin unless you’ve requested something, or your hot tub and trash need to be checked.

How can we leave gratuities for your cleaning crew?

Tips are not required but are greatly appreciated. There are envelopes at the cabins for cash tips, or you may ask the office to charge a tip to your credit card on file.

Where can I go swimming?

Logan, Ohio, has a nice public swimming pool for an entry fee. Lake Logan is free, as well as Lake Hope, which is in Vinton County, but worth the drive. We do not have a pool, and swimming is not permitted in the pond.

Is there a pond on site? If so, can I fish there?

There is a pond and fishing available! You’ll need to bring poles and bait, and all fish are catch-and-release. Fish include bass, bluegill, and catfish. A fishing license is not required since you’re on private property.

Can I get married at a park in Hocking Hills?

We are not affiliated with the state parks, so you would need to contact them directly for a ceremony at a park.

Are there wedding venues at your location?

Hocking Hills Wedding Chapel and Barn at Rush Creek are both on our property! Hocking Hills Wedding Chapel is open all year, whereas the Barn at Rush Creek is seasonal from mid-April to mid-November.

If I’m getting married at your location, where do I get my marriage license?

If you live in Ohio, then you’ll get your license in the county where you reside. If you live out of state, you’ll get your license in Hocking County at the courthouse in Logan, Ohio.
*Note, the town of Sugar Grove is in Fairfield County, but our location is Hocking County!

Can I have a wedding ceremony at one of your cabins?

You may have a ceremony at a cabin; however, you cannot exceed the maximum number of people that the cabin holds at any time, even if some people aren’t planning to stay.
